We had moved further up the Yangtze
River and after breakfast we left our ship and boarded a smaller ferry so we
could view the Lesser Three Gorges. We have been very well catered for on the
cruise with the ship’s Entertainment officer “Clyde” being very fluent in
English and always translating information for us and always being given an
English –speaking guide for the various excursions. Of course the majority of
people on the cruise are from China but there would be about 60 people from
English speaking back-grounds. Our ferry took us into the smaller and narrower
gorges of Qutang and Wu. Here we saw “hanging coffins” made of stone and wood
placed high up in the large crevices of the gorge walls. They were thought to be
about 2,000 years old and how the people of the time, placed them there is a
huge mystery. Back on board, after another magnificent dinner we were treated
to a “Cultural Night” performance put on by the crew.
